The school has struggled financially and had to lay off most staff (principal, tech, office and teachers) in one big purge to keep it afloat. It has tried to maintain a quality Christian environment. Unfortunately the church that it was once part of is moving next year to a brand new facility but will not take the school with it so that may cause more issues. Most teachers have been great! The administrators at both the Elementary and the High School (across town at a Korean Church) are still struggling to find their footing. The Nursery school seems to be okay but not very friendly to those of us who never used it. After school care has been good and bad (high turnover), but we never felt it was unsafe. There is no grass but plenty of blacktop space. Scraped up knees were common around our house. Yorba Linda Friends Schools is where we are looking for next year.

We had all our children in the school for a number of years until a new principal was brought in to oversee the elementary level for the 07/08 school year. We tried to give the school a chance but discipline and moral were lost and academics were no longer at the level of other schools nearby. Sadly the current administration is not really much better at all. The classrooms have become extremely rundown and many classes are held in very, very old portable buildings. There is no grass playground and lunch and recess are on an asphalt parking area with little shade. We moved our children to a large Christian school in Yorba Linda and will send them on to our wonderful local public high school.

My daughter, now in 6th grade, has been at Eastside since 1st grade. My son has been at Eastside since Pre-K; he is in 4th grade. We were happy with Eastside for many years but the principal retired two years ago and the school has changed considerably. The lessons need to be updated and the teachers are running the school with very little communication to parents. There is no personal instruction and a lack of discipline in classrooms. The previous administration encouraged parent participation both in and out of the classroom; the current administration requires appointments for parents to enter classroom. There is a 'select' group of parents that are allowed full access to their children's education. The campus is not well maintained.

Off the rack education, without a personal touch

Both of our children have been at Eastside since they were toddlers. Our oldest is going into sixth grade this year and her feet are firmly planted with a Christian worldview. We never would have thought she would be leader as she was always shy. However she has become a stong, confident young lady, never afraid to speak out for what is right and true amongst her peers. The academic program is well-balanced and the teachers are unbelievably loving, consistent, and patient. There are small classroom sizes and the level of homework has not been overwhelming, leaving some time for family and after school sports. The sports program is awesome for the boys and girls in 4th-6th grade with basketball and soccer championships in 2007. Elective courses such as spanish, evangelism, and character building are offered to all 3rd-6th graders. Overall, we are extremely happy with the school and highly recommend it.

The JR High & High School program has a lot to be desired. There is no consistency in discipline of students. The AP Course are considered busy work, no higher level thinking taking place. There is no consistency in the adherence to uniform policy. Religion takes a focal point, whereas education should be first priority. Definitely the administration needs to revamped.

This is a school where they seek out qualified Christian educators, that desire to take an interest in the overall education of the students, academically, spritually, personally growth and development

I have never been content with my son's previous preschool until I visited Eastside school. The Staff kind and warm and very knowledgable. What I love is the interesting activities and hands on experience they expose to each child. Not too mention outdoor activities and such and a paren workshop. Very detailed and organized school.

This private school is struggling to compete with what other schools have to offer. Their high school is very inadequate and they need to restructure their administration based upon results and knowledge.

School has excellent music programs, art, computer lab. No pre-Algebra classes available for 6th grade.

My daughter attended 6th -8th grade at Eastside and I was very happy with the academic challenges that were posed. This is a small school, which makes for a cozy environment. It is nurturing and positive. My only advice would be for more dialogue between school and parents at the Jr. High level, since Elementary and High School seem to have more attention focused on them.

This school is really trying to be a great school for grades K-12, unfortunately they really spend too much time focused on the politics rather than the students and their parents who really pay their staff. They need to trust in the ability of their parents to make their own informed decision by giving them all the information rather than thinking that their own staff can simply bare the burden. They have a wonderful volunteer coordinator who is spread too thin and asked to handle too many of the other jobs they can't find staff to cover.

Good music program. Good level of parent involvement. Not focused on academics in pre-k...something I think would have benefitted the children if they did.

This school is growing in leaps and bounds and provides a solid educational and spiritual foundation. It lacks special needs services for borderline children for its size, but leads in those offered by competing private schools. The staff and teachers appear to have a passion for their work and volunteer coordinator is truly led by God to bring together the parents and entire school staff to work for the common good of our children.

Excellent! Loving! One big family! My son is now 21, and says that Eastside Christian is the best thing that happened to him. He went to eastside kindergarten thru 8th grade and graduated in 1997. He was also in daycare all those years. He was definately ahead of other students his grade when he went to public high school in Chino hills. He also told me after 4 years in public high school, that he should have gone to a christian high school. As a single parent, I loved Eastside.

Having tried numerous other schools, we now plan to stick with Eastside throughout high school. The staff is genuine and truly wants to assist parents with direction and education of their children. While they are slowly expanding their services based on the needs of their parents, they just added a new campus for the jr. and sr. high, they are ironing out the hiccups that private school funds cause. I am hopeful and excited at the vision and possibilities that this school offers for my children and their future. They possess all of the public school opportunities, but with the attention, safety and foundation a private school can offer.

ECS elementary is a wonderful school in terms of academic excellence, positive & safe environment, & leading kids in right behavior. The principal's leadership is stellar in all respects - with staff issues, parent concerns, or disciplining/encouraging students. I would absolutely recommend this elementary school (both of my children attended from K-6th grade). I would not at this time recommend the junior high for numerous reasons: a lack of clear leadership, poor communication among faculty and between parents/faculty, high staff turnover rates, & highly subjective grading procedures, with disciplinary grades & academic grades added together, rather than separated as is standardly accepted.
