My Child has gone here for 7/8th grades. His test scores have gone up and he is much more confident. We a minor problems with different things from teacher to other student. The problems were quickly addressed and without alot of involvement on part. My son was able to approach the correct stafff members and handle situations mostly on his own. I am very pleased with Dr. Barnetts business approach to the shool and students. I feel he is very accessable to both parents and students and genuinely cares about each and every student in his care. I recomend Nicolas to anyone thats asks my opinion.

Not happy about the administration and the moral of the staff and students. You would think that a jump in test scores would make Nicolas a better place to be at, but with my third child attending here, I see a big difference in the school. Test scores raise, but at what cost!

I am a parent of Nicolas Jr. High Student for the 2nd time. I had a few issues from my first child with teachers by them not listening to me, I know my child and they would not even simply ask for homework at the start of every class. My 2nd child is flourishing here. I am really involved with my children so that helps the teachers. You will only be sucessful with your children if you are truly involved with their studies and keeping track of their grades week by week. Why have children if you do not help them become upright outstanding citzens. It starts at home and the teachers are their to help guide them when in school. You teach them guidelines of respect and they in turn will respect their teachers.

I am a second year parent at Nicolas Junior High School. I wanted to wait until my student's final year to post a review since it's often hard to judge a school on a one- year performance. My first impression of the school will be my final impression. From day one, I have been met with a friendly, consistent, and professional staff. Dr. Barnett is a third year principal at the school and has made wonderful strides met with progress to improve the students, academics, athletics, and attitude of the school. I have never seen a harder working or more dedicated principal anywhere. Dr. Barnett has implimented many successful programs for students of all academic levels. He works just as hard to improve the success of the higher academic students as well as the lower, stuggling students. He truly, deeply cares for each and every student at the school.

Dr. Barnett is really different. I think that school is super low and can even reach expectations that the district require but I think Mrs. Quiroz and Mrs Calvo are doing great as teachers my kids love it

Great School! Teachers show a real interest in teaching our kids. Extra curricular activities are great also!

The school is pretty good! I really enjoyed being their! I have been out of the school for 3 years now. I know it has changed a lot. From the dress code to the way it looks around the campus! The new principle i dont know how he is my Mrs. H and Mr. Gordon are great people! Also one of the science teachers Mrs. Ritacco (science) i recommend her for your students!

I agree with the last poster. It is time for parents to step in and get more involved. We can't expect the teachers to teach our children morals. It comes from home first and your child should take it to school and respect what the teachers ask of them. If your child does not respect you at home then a teacher is not someone then can demand for your child to pay attention in class and learn what they are suppose to. Parents stop blaming the teachers and lets help the teachers that give 100% to our kids while we are at work. I think Mr. Barnett is Excellent and all the teachers I have come in contact with have been wonderful. I just don't really care for the office staff. I think they are rude and not pleasant.

I do agree the school needs Ext. improvements, mainly around the lunch areas. My child takes pride in her school work and respects the teachers. We as parents need to stop complaining about the teachers and school attire and actually participate and get involved!Join the PTA where you can have a voice that will be heard. Make sure your kids understand that their test scores and academics are partly their responsibility and that they are privileged to have such a place to go and receive the education they need. Complaints about the classrooms and the principle? The behaviour and opinions of the parents are transformed onto our children. Our children spend more time with the educators then they do with their parents, we should be thanking these teachers. Take time and listen be supportive, soon you will see that a child that really wants to learn will no matter what!

I attend the school, and I think the school needs a lot of improvement. This school is a joke, the classes don't inform us of the proper information we need to be learning. The princepal needs to get involved much more in the school then he already doesn't. While he's changeing useless things like the dress code, he's not understanding the more important issues like, books, funds, and student safety.

I'm not sure what that last post is all about, but I am a parent of a happy student at Nicolas. The new principal is very caring and ambitious. I don't think Nicolas is an unsafe school. I can't vouch for the quality of all the books, but my daughter's books that she has brought home look fine.

Nicolas is a school in transition. It is finding it's way up. The 2006-07 school year is bringing up state scores, school pride, student's attitudes. The admin. is working hard to make sure the students are learning in a safe and positive environment. My son is in the band program and loves it. We look forward to a positive 07-08.

My daughter attends Nicolas. The school is overcrowded, under prepared and the worst school in Fullerton! The laptop program is unsuccessful and takes valuable time and funds away from educating our children. The new principal is heavy handed and out of touch with parent-teacher-student issues. This is the age group for nurturing and listening. Mr. Gordon is a great Vice Principal.

The administration and staff work hard to help all the students at Nicolas. Mrs. Hofreiter is to be especially recognized for her caring attitude.

My daughter is getting ready to graduate from the 8th grade. The school has been very helpful in providing her the tools to achieve her 4.0 GPA. The teachers have been there when she needed tham most.

The school is a bit tacky and it looks low quality. The expectancy is quite low for student education. The schedule planned in the regular school basis is very complicated and that it is becoming overcrowded. The view of the school is not very pleasant.
