Santiago is a marvelous school with such wonders. Even though it s lacking money through budget cuts, the school staff tries as hard as possible to ensure our education and happiness. Santiago is just a wonderful school with such people that support it through the lows and highs.

I graduated from Santiago a few years ago and I can say that I spent the best time of my life here. Yeah, of course there were some teachers that needed to go back to school themselves but for the most part everyone was wonderful. I just wish I could experience this time of my life again. Santiago may not be #1 but it truly is a good school. And this new principal seems to be doing a good job in getting more involved. GO PURPLE!

I am currently a senior at Santiago and for last four years, I never once regret going to this school. I would not choose any other school. Of course every school have weaknesses and Santiago is no different. We recently got a principal that is really involved with the students. The school have a good athletic program. Our football team was League Champ and we went to CIF. The school also offer a of tutoring especially for the HS Exit Exam. And hey, our scores are going up, we must be doing something right. Some people think that it's not a safe school, but ever since i came to this school, i never felt afraid. Please don't judge the school by its past or by the rumors. Go Purple!

My girls have gone to Santiago their whole high school careers. I have one daughter who is a Senior this year and one a Junior this year. My junior has always struggled in school and continues to struggle. But she tries very hard to do her best. The teachers should do something when they see a child struggling and not just let them be. I requested tutoring/counseling and she never received it. My Senior hasn't had much trouble until this past year. She just didn't do what she was suppose to do. The school itself may have its problems but I think the kids also play a part in how well/or not they do. They have a great Principal who really seems to care about the kids and Mr. Nirk is great with the kids and cares a lot about them and there education.

The last 3 years, I've watched this school slowly go back downhill. The lack of involvement from parents, teachers, and the school itself. The school won't budge as far as other after school/ on campus events. How can they get any better, or be proud of, if the school won't help out. Just says that they don't care.

This school is very diverse. As an Alumni, I plan on sending my children. You get to interact with many differant cultures and etnicities. Many teachers do sincerly care about your childs success in their future. There was a slight problems with gang, drugs and violence from 99-2002. School cleaned up very well by 2003, and is improving tremendously every year. Great school, Great traditions, incredible faculty.

The academics were not the best, but they were quite good for a school in that environment. All kinds of extracurriculars were readily available.

I have had two children attend this school. I am not impressed with the administration. There is very little communication therefore very little parnetal involvement. When I have tried to get information from teachers/administraters I get double talk and very little help and the 'staff' will single the student out causing more problems and stress. Academically the classes seem too easy and students bored which leads to no motivation to excel. my kids score in the 90% percentile yet GPA were low due to boredom in the classroom and lack of encouragement by the staff. My son did graduate and my daughter will do just about anything not to go back her junior and senior years. She is very involved in sports and can get desent coaches. I am trying to get her transferred.

Overall I think that the school is doing a great job, all of the kids get along and there hasnt been any sort of arguements or fights in a very long time. The kids at this school are doing a great job with giving their school a good reputaion, and i also think that the athletics program is doing a great job.

In my opinion, Santiago isn't the best school to allow your child to attend. Even my own child has admitted to it. There campus isn't the best, and in some areas it looks very run down. The teachers there, I must admit are very good, however the students themselves are not very friendly and most do not care about their academic scores, which may influence your child. I'd recommend a school such as LQ or Garden Grove High, which have much better atmospheres.

In my opinion, Santiago in't a good school to attend. There is discrimination within the same race. For example, Mexican students discriminate against other Mexican student who might not speak english or be as well economically. teachers in clasass even discriminate just like another student would. Teachers at Santiago don't understand who they are dealing with and how. It is sick to see how the teachers and even the principal contrbute to this behavior. The school would be better off if they got new teachers. It is sad to see how my daughter doesn't learn because she has a different substitute every day. I din't understand why she can't have a normal teacher like the other students. The environment of Santiago is guilty for the students low grades and it is easy to see why Santiago has such a bad reputation.

This isn't a good school at all. There is no involvement by the parents or teachers. It is difficult for students to attend this school when the first person they hate is their principal. Teachers allow their students to slack off and disrespect her and other students in the class. The gang rate in Santiago is high because low-income students believe that there isn't another place where they can be accepted. I have not heard of the principal or any one else to try to stop the gangs that are evidently there. Many students feel unsafe and unprotected at a place that should be considered your second home.

I have had 4 children attend Santiago. My oldest attended only the senior yr. It was the best school between the 2 G.G. high schools. The teachers are awsome overall. The special ed. program is the best. Most of the teachers care deeply about their students and help them succeed. The athletics aren't the strongest but my experience is the coaches help build the best program with the talent that comes there way. The principal should get more involved in student activities, not just academics. I would recommend all parents send their child if that's where they live and don't pre judge. I did and I almost blew my children's high school years because I listened to the rumors about how unsafe it was. My kid's are white and fit in just great. They aren't judged by what they wear or how much money they have or don't Check it out!
