California E.S. is the bomb! Teachers work so hard to make sure the kids are successful. They have come along way. They used to be on program improvement and have been off it for 3 years. They are growing by leaps and bounds and have exemplary test scores to prove it!

I love that our teachers work so hard and are willing to do whatever it takes to help improve student achievement.

I have 2 children attending California. My daughter will be graduating the 13th.I've had a possitive experience there.Mrs.Agresti is the best teacher they have. Both my children have had her.She is my son's current teacher. What a difference. She had made in his life.He had her 2nd grade and 4th.All the teachers have wonderful communication. The principal is on top of everything.I highly recommend California School. Our son has attended California Elementary for 2 years now. We have been happy with the teachers he has had but overall we belive the teachers have a tough time. This school has a large number of parents with limited english language abilities. The teachers and the school do the best that they can with what they are given. Students who excel are given additional learning opportunities and study programs to enhance their learning experience and is very helpful keeping students excited about their progress. As for extracurricular activities, this school does not seem to offer many. the Y.M.C.A. program that was just started after school was only for a limited number of students and it appears that it was not offered to the students who are excelling in the classroom and should have had a priority in the program. Hopefully more will be available...

The school stresses Language Arts and Math. There is such a high rate of non-English speaking kids that this has to be the focus. Most of the teachers are good teachers, they do the best they can with the circumstances given them. The PTA provides some extras for the kids such as, Art Masters, Science Night, Book Fair and more. There is a very low level of parent involvement. There are a few parents who work very hard for their children and the school. It is unfortunate that only a few people do get involved.

My daughters have attended California Elem.and I still have one in attendence. The school has progressed exceptionally. The new principal has brought fresh ideas to the school for the children to excell to a higher standard. The teachers are qualified and are will to help the students, also even willing to help the parents of children who need help. The school does classes for parents who need to learn english. This is very important so that the school can break the language barrier. Keep pushing forward California, you will excell!
